Hey guys,

I've just gotten a new puter and installed NR2005.  Wen I hop in the car it sounds like a pack of bee's chasing 1hp go-carts.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Either that, or is there a good sound file I could install?  Any help with this would be great.

Thanks,

Greg

Ohh yeah, I'm getting the same problem with N2003.

I put one together for N2005 a while ago. I believe it's still in one of the files sections at our ASA team website  http://www.wfoenterprises.com/asahomepage.htm

Thanks for the link Gil.  I really appreciate it.  I've downloaded the file and installed it, and it overwrote all the duplicated files.  Went in the game and got the same result.  I've seen some other people in the forums with this issue, but I'm not finding how they fixed it.  If you or anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Try turning your audio acceleration down to minimal / no acceleration in your control panel / sound & audio devices settings. That solved the problem in N2K3. I imagine if you're having a similar problem in N2K5, it would work there too.

Yeah, I've tried that too and it didn't do anything different. I've even updated the sound drivers...still, Nothin!!! It's a brand new Dell set up to be a gaming puter, but it's got an onboard sound system...you think I'll need an actual sound card?

What sound card & speakers are you using? Go into the sim and turn down the sound settings to something progressive like 55% for the invdividual sounds & 75% for the overall. Then go into windows and make sure the wave sound is above that say 80%. You always want the sound settings to get progressively louder from the initial source to the final to minimize distortion.

Ok, I've adjusted everything like you said, but still the same result. The only thing I'm not sure about is the wave sound. Not sure where that is. I've checked my sound settings in windows and must be overlooking it somewhere or something.
The onboard sound is a "Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC". The speakers I have are Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers.

Start/COntrol Panel/Sound and Audio Devices/Volume Tab - Device Volume (upper half) - Advanced button;

Should give you a slider screen with all of your volume controls for "play control", "wave", "Midi synth", etc.   Check your volumes there (to start).
