Hey everyone,

I purchased and installed a new Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card.  Now I'm having a strange problem I can't seem to figure out.  When I try to use Game Commander (or any other voice recognition software for that matter), it picks up sounds being output by the card.  Basically what I'm saying is that Game Commander hears my system sounds and they either drown out or override my voice commands.  I can turn the volume all the way down and it still picks up the output from the card.  In fact, I can unplug my headphones and turn of my speakers entirely but Game Commander still picks up the sounds being output by the card!!!  Basically what I'm saying is that when I've got the throttle revved all the way up, the sound of the engine is being picked up by Game Commander and it drowns out my voice commands.  This even happens with the speakers off and the headphones unplugged!  I tried reinstalling Game Commander and also tried changing and reinstalling the drivers for the sound card but got the same result.  I tried other voice recognition software and got the same result also.  This tells me that something is going on internally with the card that is causing this.  So far I've been unable to fix this issue.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Does anyone know how to fix it?  I hate having to hit the keys on the keyboard during a race!

Never mind concerning this issue.  I figured out the problem tonight and fixed it.  There is a recording device installed with this card called "What You Hear".  If this device isn't disabled, it overrides all microphones and instead records any sounds being output by the card.  The microphones still work with this enabled but this device seems to take precedence.  In case any of you ever run into this, the fix is to disable the "What You Hear" device in your recording properties.
