SSP4 raced under the lights once again, this time in Virginia, as A Bennett took his Alexander Keith's Chevrolet Impala SS to the checkered flag!

11 drivers showed up for some short track pain this Wednesday night, with 160 laps looking them square in the face at Richmond International Speedway for the Dan Lowry 400. Must have been Andy's night, because there was not one arena he didn't make first in. There was Practice, Qualification, Happy Hour, Race, Fastest Lap, and Most Laps Led. I think Andy is good at this track, lol.

This race would run caution free, as far as clean driving is concerned, with the exception of 1 caution for debris. Not bad for a short track that has a reputation for angering quite a few drivers before the night is over (ask Michael Waltrip, lol).

Green flag! Andy started his journey to the top as the rest of us followed along. Troy just let everyone by in the beginning, having an issue with control of his car. Eli pushed hard to run up front, only to bang the wall on Lap 11. Must have been too much damage, as he became the first casualty of the race when he parked it a couple of laps later. Dusty followed Shriner on his way to the front, with Matt tagging along. Troy was having a real tough time, smacking the wall on the front straight at one point. Lap 32 saw another driver bow out as Shriner called it quits and parked it, followed by John a lap later as his car could not stay off the wall. Very early for Richmond to kill so many cars.

An ill handling car had Darin making an early pit stop on lap 35 for 4 fresh tires and fuel. The normal round of green flag pit stops occurred on Laps 50 to 70. Dusty went into pits and ran out of fuel a few pit stalls away from his box and just cruised to a stop and refueled. What luck! Some needed major repairs occurred, such as Matt who was scraping wall like no other before he pitted. He got back out on the track and started using 3rd gear in the turns, and to his dismay lost that gear. A few laps later he parked it.

The losing-of-gears would continue, with Dusty losing 4th gear around lap 109. Soon after, our first caution of the night came out for debris, no doubt from all the gearbox problems. Pitting for all. Phil got to be the Lucky Dog, which placed him as the last of 3 cars on the lead lap.

Green Flag! Andy does what he does best, and that's taking off like a bat out of hell! Les lost 2nd gear on the restart just narrowly avoiding Darin as he swerved outside. A little backup ensued as everyone scattered then got back on the gas. Les started losing ground as Dusty, Phil, and Darin passed him up, and knowing he was just going to keep losing ground he parked it. Richmond claims another victim!

Mike stayed on Andy, keeping him within sight but just could not get to his bumper, as Andy kept up the speed and chocked up another win for this season!

Congrats Andy!
